‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: ‘Devil May Care,’ the return of Abaddon, and more

What's coming up? -Are you ready for “Supernatural” season 9 to be back on the air? We certainly cannot blame you if you’re jumping up and down with anticipation. It’s been a long wait this summer, but a week from Tuesday, we are finally going to learn a little bit more about what is going to be taking place now that the angels have fallen to earth, and Sam’s quest to finish the trails is now at an end.

But rather than focus on that premiere, entitled “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here,” we are actually pushing a week deeper into the season courtesy of “Devil May Care.” This episode may not be featuring Misha Collins’ Castiel, but the synopsis below certainly makes it feel like there is plenty else to look forward to:

“Dean (Jensen Ackles) shocks Sam (Jared Padalecki) by popping open the trunk of the Impala and showing him that he has kidnapped Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Kevin (guest star Osric Chau) freaks out when he sees the King of Hell, but Sam and Dean convince him that they need Crowley to find the demons on Earth. Meanwhile, Abaddon (guest star Alaina Huffman) re-emerges and plans to take over Hell.”

So this seemingly confirms that we are not going to be seeing Abaddon show up during the premiere a week from Tuesday, which may just mean that the show does have quite an expansive roster of characters, and there’s no need to cram them all into one episode. In our mind, that is a very good thing rather than a problem, since it means that we could have less standalone episodes.

If you do love Castiel, just click here to see him and and Mark Sheppard’s Crowley star in a pretty hilarious new promo for the show (threats included).
