‘Supernatural’ season 9: Misha Collins’ Castiel, Mark Sheppard’s Crowley star in new promo

What's coming up? -We really do give the folks at “Supernatural” a lot of credit right now. It would have probably been fairly easy for them to go through the motions and release some promos that contained basically 0% new information, but they are choosing instead to at least think somewhat outside of the box and give us something worth being excited about: Promos that are entirely new, and contain some funny moments that are not even a part of the show itself.

The latest example of this comes via the promo below, which features none other than Mark A. Sheppard’s Crowley and Misha Collins’ Castiel having a random (but funny) conversation about Tuesdays being extremely important from now on. Crowley tries to get you to sell your soul to Hell, Castiel tries to convince you otherwise, and there are a few brilliant/ awkward pauses.

We wonder just how much the increased “Supernatural” promotional effort this year is tied to ratings. The CW seemingly realized last year more than ever just what sort of devoted following the show has, and when you have a warrior like this on your schedule, you want to keep it strong. It in turn can be used to promote other shows, and if any other program that they have managed to get the equivalent of a “Supernatural” following, this little network would suddenly become a group of the happiest campers out there.

Ultimately, we do feel like this promo is probably going to be much more universally-loved, and therefore far less controversial, than the news that we shared yesterday about Castiel getting a new love interest. That is something that currently has the fandom very much up in arms.

The new “Supernatural” season starts on October 8, and we are of course going to have more updates every step of the way.
