‘American Horror Story: Coven’ teaser: The dead rises in ‘Coffin’

The latest -While some “American Horror Story: Coven” teasers so far have probably been more on the frightening side than the one that we have to share with you below, we believe that it still has quite the unique purpose on its own. Specifically, we are of the belief that “Coffin” may be the most-revealing video yet for the show when it comes to actually giving us some sort of suggestion as to what the story of the episodes ahead is meant to be.

In the video below, you can see what is effectively someone being awakened while six feet under, which is interesting to us from a few vantage points:

1. If this person has been dead for some extended period of time, it surely doesn’t look quite like it.

2. Is this person waking up on their own, or being conjured? This is a season all about witches, and so we cannot really rule this out as a possibility.

3. Who is this person in relation to everyone else on the show?

The only other thing worth noting here is that the haunting refrain in the background is the same one that we heard in the most-recent teaser, which showed witches “at the stake” which were really them floating in front of it as a clever sort of optical illusion. The basic theme of all of them is that what you see and what you get are two very different things, and here what you expect is clearly that people who are dead will remain such. Not exactly the case.

What is it about this teaser that interests you? If you want to see some more teasers from the upcoming season (which launches on FX starting on Wednesday, October 9 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time), just be sure to head on over to the link here.
