‘Big Brother 15’ live feed spoilers: The state of the house, and the vendetta-seeking viewer

Moving on -This “Big Brother 15” update is going to be a little bit different than the other ones that we have posted, because there is really not anything happening at all today. Despite it being nearly 3:00 p.m. local time, almost everyone in the house is still asleep. Amanda and Elissa have risen the past few hours, but neither is making an effort to do anything interesting.

So first, we want to lay out the current state of things for those who are a little behind. Spencer and Amanda are on the block, with the latter likely heading home thanks to a GinaMarie tie-breaking vote. While Elissa made a big move by attempting to flip the house for Amanda, to the point where she gave her a wedding ring as collateral in a show of trust, Andy still looks to be siding with the Exterminators alliance for the time being. The plan for this alliance after Amanda goes would be to nominate Elissa and McCrae, mostly so that they cannot help each other in any situation.

Now, we wanted to do a little something from a commentary perspective, mostly because we’ve noticed a clear trend among viewers this season: This is by far the least fun season of the show to discuss. We remember the days when there could be great strategy talk on Twitter or message boards, but it has since become a place for hate. The racism is undoubtedly a major turn-off, but racial remarks suddenly becomes an issue anytime you have someone like GinaMarie brought up by fans looking to analyze her game. You have people threatening Amanda’s family, Aaryn’s mom desperate to prove that her daughter is not racist thanks to going to prom with an African-American, and Spencer’s job calling the police on him after getting notified by people over a horrible joke he made while speaking into McCrae’s microphone.

There has been a pretty nasty trend the last few weeks of people, as our beloved Mrs. Carter calls it, becoming keyboard cowboys. We are the judge and jury of some of these people, sure, but why become the executioner? Even without the threats and the phone calls out there, people like Spencer, Aaryn, and GinaMarie would still be losing their jobs and hated by the world. It’s almost counter-intuitive in a way, when the hate becomes so severe that some actually develop a bizarre form of internet Stockholm syndrome for the people they are supposed to hate. When the responses are almost as vile as the original comments, you know there is a problem.

We just wish that as this subpar season comes to a close, that folks remember what we loved about “Big Brother” to begin with, and the hopes for the future. The show has become more offensive, and some fans have become more sensitive in turn. There still could be something great for the show moving forward, which is why we’re pleading for an All-Star season next year. Reduce the risk of racism, cast people who you know are fun, and get the internet buzzing about the game again. The public opinion of “Big Brother” has become such that it is strangely more taboo to say that you are a fan of the show, and it really shouldn’t be that way.

We’ll get off of our soapbox now, since we do have some fun stuff coming up. We’ll be doing our lists for possible all-star casts, gauging a shot at renewal, and talking about if there are any players from this season who will return.

Above all, though, we are going to go ahead and mark a potential “Big Brother 16” as “the year of joy.” That’s what we want to see our beloved show, one that turns the mainstream media away and allows us as fans to stop being offended by horrible people and focus on the game that we love.
