‘Royal Pains’ season 5, episode 12 preview: Will Hank doom HankMed for good?

As we near the tail end of “Royal Pains” season 5, we are very close to seeing the end of HankMed as a we know it … and it is all courtesy of the guy who has his name shoved within the name of the company.

Let’s start off here with what has to be considered the good news at the moment: Nothing has happened to Hank yet. While his tests came back positive following his tox screen (not good), Hamptons Heritage is taking its time to figure out just what to do with him. The interesting irony to this whole situation is that we spent much of the year wondering whether or not Shelby or these people were operating with some sort of bizarre ulterior motive, when it really may be Hank that is setting himself up to fail thanks to some of his own actions.

Shelby in particular is going to confront both Hank and Jeremiah with a pretty simple question: Was the drug use such that it actually impaired his ability to treat patients, especially after joining the hospital in some sort of official capacity? While Don and his daughter seem to be the only two people really impacted by this, having two patients adversely affected is still enough to really raise questions about whether or not you are capable of doing your job. The fear with Jeremiah is that he would try to protect his friend, but in this situation we don’t feel that he would jeopardize his own career for him.
