‘Royal Pains’ season 5, episode 11 review: Divya learns Jeremiah’s secret, and does…

Dr. Sacani -The answer to that title is “very little,” at least when it comes to the hopes and dreams of many “Royal Pains” fans out there. Wednesday night’s episode was an opportunity for the USA Network show to push towards an ending that almost everyone was looking forward to seeing. Instead, what we have now is a step in the right direction, but hardly a leap.

The revelation that Jeremiah is in love with Divya was unfortunately not presented to her by the doctor himself, but instead by Divya listening in on a conversation between Evan and Paige, following up the throws of the couple’s latest fight about whether or not Evan still had feelings for her or not. Those were long ago, but the sad news for now seems to be that Jeremiah is lumped into the same group as Evan: The friend zone.

To be fair, this has got to be a weird situation for her to deal with; Jeremiah has taken her in and offered to help prepare her for her child’s birth, and all at the same time hoping that he can fulfill a spot in her life that she is not thinking about. She does not want to lead him on, or to move into that part of life until she decides that she actually wants it. For now, it would be silly to give up on the two as a couple in the long-term, but there is a significant amount of work that needs to be done before they can really get there.

As for Hank’s story, the good news for him is that his fellow HankMed associates have seemingly uncovered the source of some of his pain, and what was causing him to become addicted to medication in the first place. But, the results of his tox screen may still be enough to potentially cause him to lose his job … especially if Don dies. The light at the end of the episode was ominous, and even if he lives, Don’s often bratty (but in this case, justifiably angry) daughter will never forgive him for continuing to treat the man while under the influence. We were surprised at how quickly the problem for Hank was solved, but the problem for his business is going to linger through the final two weeks of the season.
