For those of you who were not particularly fans of “Bram” (i.e. Brittany and Sam), which is probably most of you based on what we heard throughout “Glee” last season, you will be pleased to know that Chord Overstreet’s character is going to be moving on this coming season with a woman that may have been created specifically for him. Finally, this means that he is not forced to be a placeholder relationship for characters who were previously with somebody else on the show.
We were one of the first to tell you earlier this week that Phoebe Strole, who starred in “Spring Awakening” with Lea Michele, was booked for some sort of role this season, Now, we know just what that will be. Deadline reports that Strole will play Penny Owen, a sophomore in college who is entering nursing school, and Sam will have some sort of attraction towards her.
This news is perhaps an indicator that Sam has some college aspirations moving forward, which is something that we were never quite sure about given how much he struggled with his grades this season just to prepare for graduation. But where is this college located? That is going to be a big determining factor in what his future on the show is going to be. If he is staying in Ohio or going somewhere away from New York, this is where we could see his part start to drift away from the rest of the cast.
We will find out all of this information and then some soon enough, as the new season of “Glee” is going to premiere on Fox come Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time with a Beatles-themed episode you can see the title for here. The third episode will mark the tribute to Cory Monteith.
