‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Ted will meet the mother for longer than a second

There is a lot of valuable “How I Met Your Mother” news worth sharing today, but we will begin with the question to really end all questions: Is the end of this show really going to be Ted Mosby finally getting to say hi to the future mother of children? While this may be the ending that almost everyone out there is expecting, this is not exactly what the creators behind the CBS sitcom see themselves doing as they say goodbye to the show.

Speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Carter Bays promises that when it comes to the Ted and the still-unnamed Mother character, there is going to be much more that we see with the couple’s story beyond just one word. That is not to say that Ted will be meeting Cristin Milioti’s character at the start of the season, though.

As for a few other things to expect…

More returns – Bays and fellow executive producer Craig Thomas suggest that we are going to see a possible “How I Met Your Father” moment where we get a different perspective to some of the stories we’ve heard already. This means more of David Henrie and Lyndsy Fonseca!

Meetings – The order in which the characters all meet the Mother before Ted is going to be surprising, but also the way in which they all spend time with her. However, one thing seems to be universal: All of the characters are going to end up liking her quite a bit.

The Mother’s name – You will learn it in due time, but we personally see this more as a series finale kind of moment than something beforehand. (We don’t know if that is when the name will be presented, as this is just a guess.)

There is also more talk in this piece about Robin’s mom, and apparently, Cobie Smulders suggested Annette Bening for the role.
