‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10: For 200 episodes, let them eat cake!

Eat up -For any show to make it to 200 episodes in the modern TV era has to be considered an amazing accomplishment. The majority of people in this industry are just not that patient, so if they start to see a show trailing off a little bit, they will come up with a way to either get the show off the air, or muck it up creatively in such a way that viewers will give up.

Grey’s Anatomy” is one of the rare exceptions to that rule, especially on a network in ABC that no longer has another drama show quite like it. The 200th episode of the show is going to air on Thursday, October 10, and to celebrate the occasion during filming, there was of course a party! In turn, whenever there is a party of this occasion, you know that there’s going to be a cake at some point with the show’s logo present front and center on it.

What is even more impressive about this 200-episode achievement is that you still have the same executive producer in Shondra Rhimes, and a number of the original cast members. Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., and Justin Chambers are all there still and have no desire to leave; even though Sandra Oh has already made her intentions to step down clear now, it’s hard to really fault a woman who has given a full decade of her life to this one show.

Early intel on episode #200 suggests that this is going to be a very different sort of hour of television, one that features the doctors at least in part away from the hospital. This alone may actually give the hour some separation and reason to stand out.

“Grey’s Anatomy” has already released the first promo for the new season (which you can watch here), and the show returns on Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
