The final season of “Eastbound & Down” just got itself some much-needed love, and it’s all courtesy of an actress who suddenly finds herself in demand for some work following time in treatment.
Sources confirm that Lindsay Lohan, fresh off of several glowing reports about her time in rehab, has agreed to appear on the HBO show for a wedding scene set in the future. It will be a flash-forward, and all we’re going to say (given that not all of you out there want to be spoiled on everything) is that she is playing the part of a daughter to one of the show’s main characters.
What makes this gig for Lindsay particularly of note is that this is not a sort of gig that she would be obtaining if the network was nervous about her capacity to get the job done. HBO doesn’t take risks. They don’t need to, given that they are one of the most critically-acclaimed networks out there. They know fans who have stuck with Kenny Powers the past few years want a great ending, and don’t want it spoiled by some stunt-casting. They obviously feel like Lohan on board could be something that is fun, funny, and not much of a distraction to anything else.
Lindsay’s slate post-rehab has already included a guest-hosting stint on “Chelsea Lately,” which earned her reasonably favorable reviews, along with an interview with Oprah that is also going to lead to a documentary series about her time out of treatment. It’s going to be a slow build for Lindsay to get herself back to where she wants to be, and we still don’t think that a stint on “Dancing with the Stars” would be a bad move. It’s structure, and it’s good publicity with a company in Disney that once helped her out.
