‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Is Cote de Pablo’s Ziva leaving on a jet plane?

Sad news now for fans of Cote de Pablo: It appears as though the Ziva character may have already appeared in her final “NCIS” season 11 scene, pending of course some sort of miracle that causes her to return as a guest star at some point in the future.

In an ominous-sounding post on Twitter, Michael Weatherly (who is of course the man behind Ziva’s on-screen “love interest” in Tony) shared the picture attached here, and also the caption that probably has a few Tiva shippers choking back tears and wondering what could have been:

“Shooting  @NCIS_CBS at mystery airport… #zivagone”

So does this mean that Ziva is leaving on a jet plane? Possibly, or that Tony ended up leaving her somewhere. We imagine that Weatherly did not just show up to an airport with some crew members in an effort to trick viewers; even the most-watched show on television does not have that kind of budget to throw money into nothing.

Regardless of however Ziva does leave the program, at least a little bit of solace can be taken courtesy of the knowledge that she’s not going to go down in a tragic car crash a la (spoiler alert from several months ago!) Matthew Crawley on “Downton Abbey.” If she does leave via plane, the obvious questions are where she is going to be going, and whether or not she and Tony will have the moments that everyone is hoping for before she does? Given that executive producer Gary Glasberg has promised that there will be some sort of appropriate conclusion here, you have quite a bit to look forward to.

The new season of “NCIS” premiers on Tuesday, September 24 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, and while there is plenty to look forward to here, the show is also doing its best to paint the rest of the season into something that will also be fun and pleasing to longtime fans.
