‘Big Brother 15’ review: Aaryn Gries (awkwardly) calls herself the ‘good witch’

The latest -Tonight on “Big Brother 15,” we basically ended up seeing the train of irony for Aaryn Gries continue down yet another avenue: One where she considered herself a good game-player, and where she did things for the good of the team. Just the idea of the show’s now-noted racist using the words “good witch” in order to explain her strategy for taking her punishment as Have-Not for the team. Seriously.

Most of this episode, which was delayed (big shocker there given that this is CBS) due to sports, was really devoted to one of two simple things.

1. Explaining the eviction of Judd – Overall, there was some care handled into making this reasonably accurate, including some of the paranoia that was there about Judd being MVP, even when he was not actually in charge of any such thing. The one thing that the show did leave out was a little unfortunate something known as the “Grasshoppers” alliance. Everyone thought that this was something that Judd had just made up courtesy of his time as Head of Household, but it actually was the truth, and a big part of why he went home. (GinaMarie and Spencer lying about it only hurt matters further.)

2. Declaring the new Head of Household – Yes, Andy won, as just about everyone else had heard previously. The only thing that we really found particularly surprising in the midst of all of this was getting the opportunity to find out that McCrae ticked off Amanda yet again.

This was at least a solid episode, but it did not actually serve to fulfill the problem that we saw following Thursday’s episode: There is no one left that really makes us want to cheer for. Is Andy likable? Sure, but putting up Jessie and Spencer is hardly a big move. Meanwhile, Helen has just become a control-freak, Amanda and McCrae spend too much time bickering, and Elissa’s part of the game right now seems to just involve sharing her opinions rather than making moves.
