‘American Horror Story: Coven’ teaser: Pins and needles, indeed (video)

Teaser time -Just as we predicted earlier in the week, FX is starting to go all-out now in their promotion of “American Horror Story: Coven.” This is a show that there is an extreme amount of excitement around, but also anxiety. If you somehow manage to get Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, and Jessica Lange cast on the same show, you better have one of the best shows of all time. That is all we’re saying here, that this really needs to blow your hair back like season 1 and not fall on it’s face like many parts of season 2.

This second teaser from the network is actually much more effective than the original, and for a few reasons:

1. It’s significantly longer – 23 seconds still is not a ton of time, but we’ll take it over anything that is shorter than 20.

2. It actually teases us with something creepy – The only thing that was particular scary about the first teaser was that there was some woman seemingly floating in a fireplace … and you know that some people liked to burn witches. At first glance, it looks like you just have some needles on the screen present alongside some reasonably sweet music. Then, the figure of the woman appears, and it’s clear that we have a real-life voodoo situation on our hands!

Hats of to the network for only forcing us to wait for a day before informing us of what should be obvious: If you have a show revolving around witches, and it’s set in New Orleans (which would be inauthentic without that location). We just want to see what sort of Ryan Murphy twist it’s going to have, mostly because you know that there is one coming (there always is).
