‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Jeremy Carver on Jensen Ackles talking to animals

Last season on “Supernatural,” we had an opportunity to see what happened when Dean put on some unusual costumes to try to save Sam from some trials, and also tackle some very bizarre cases in the story-of-the-week episodes. While these may not be the favorite of every fan out there, some of them over the years have been entertaining, hilarious, at times moving, and fantastic.

What are we going to have this coming season? It appears it will not be until episode 4 that the show starts to venture into more of this territory, but executive producer Jeremy Carver teases to Entertainment Weekly that one particular story of intrigue could feature Jensen Ackles’ character literally talking with a pigeon:

“One of the highlights being Dean getting into a brawl with a pigeon. It’s a logical progression from fairies to pigeons.” 

On a more serious note, Carver teased that those of you who appreciated the Men of Letters becoming a part of the story last year will enjoy seeing much more of that, specifically in the form of a major flashback to see the early days of the organization:

“We’ll be delving a lot more into that, and in fact we’ll be seeing the very first two hunters to ever be stationed at the men of letters bunker. That’s a really, really fun episode we have coming up early in the season where we will be flashing back to 1935.”

Also on tap this season? Plenty of Castiel (Misha Collins is a series regular!), some sort of substantial role for Felicia Day’s Charlie, and also the opportunity to see Bobby back in action after a brief appearance last season.
