‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Michael Weatherly calls Tony / Ziva scenes ‘cathartic’

What comes next? -As you surely know by now, the first two episodes of “NCIS” season 11 are going to tackle the very difficult subject of the departure of Cote de Pablo’s Ziva from the show. While as sad as this may be for some viewers, there could also be a sense of happiness and relief that comes for those looking to really see some sort of attention given to the story of Ziva and Tony, which has been dragged out for nearly a decade at this point.

Based on what Michael Weatherly is saying now, there may not be any real reason to worry about the character not getting her proper due before her exit. Speaking to TVLine, he called shooting the farewell to Ziva both “cathartic” and “therapeutic,” and then went on to add that what intrigues him next is seeing the twists and turns that the show will now take:

“When you want something for so long, and you want and you want and you want, and it almost gets warped because you’ve wanted it for maybe longer than anybody should ever want anything, and it’s sitting five feet from you in an office…. When that is dealt with, a dam breaks and it creates a fresh new and most importantly dynamic element to the show. That eight-year ‘holding pattern’ will be dealt with, but more important than that is what happens next. Where does Tony go after that? And [the answer to that] is the most exciting thing I’ve heard in a long time.”

As reported previously, the plan now is for the show to introduce a series of different characters to take Ziva’s professional position, but will take its time before setting in on a character to try and fill the void (which is a pretty daunting task, we must say).

What do you think about some of Weatherly’s comments? If you do want to read even more “NCIS” season 11 news from some of the other actors, all you have to do is check out the story over at the link here.
