‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: All the details on Barry Allen and The Flash spin-off

Creepy things come -The CW did a great job at managing to take over just about all of TCA today, and it is all courtesy of just one announcement: That “Arrow” is going to have another superhero component coming up, and his name is none other than The Flash. It also took a flash-fast double-take for this news to really settle in, given that this is not a character that we expected to ever seen in the “Arrow” universe.

Why’s that? Barry Allen, the character’s alter-ego, has powers, and this is a world without them … right? Well, not so much. At TCA, DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and “Arrow” showrunner Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that there would be some sort of powers introduced with this character, but it would be in a way that still works in some way with the world that has already been established on the show. Therefore, we’re not going to be seeing any real instances of cartoony zipping around your TV screen.

Barry Allen will first appear in episodes 8-9 of the show’s second season, and at that time, he will be introduced as a forensics scientist working inside Central City’s Police Department. Basically, he’s like Dexter Morgan without the part that includes killing people: A good man. He will then appear in the 20th episode, which is going to serve more as a formal backdoor pilot for the show, similar to how “Supernatural” is also planning to do this spring.

As a fan of The Flash (which will be referred to by this name), we hope that this series is good, and that there is some sort of greater DC universe that is created on The CW. However, we’ve been burned by so many non-“Arrow” hero shows over the years that we find it much better to have low expectations, that way there is a shot at being pleasantly surprised at some point down the road.

In case you missed the earlier announcement about this project, just be sure to check it out over here.
