‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: A story of identity

ArrowTime flies when you’re making television, doesn’t it? It really didn’t feel like it was that long ago that production started on “Arrow” season 2, and now the team up in Vancouver is already hard at work at getting the story going for the second episode.

What we have for you right now is both exciting and frustrating at the same time: A title. It just so happens to also be an extremely vague and therefore frustrating one. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed on Twitter that this episode is titled “Identity,” which tells us not nothing much of anything. We suppose it does serve as a reminder that very few people know that Oliver Queen is secretly the Arrow, and there is also probably a little something in here about someone trying to find themselves away from their alter egos and awesome costumes.

For more on this subject, just remember the following: Oliver Queen is still trying to learn who he is off the island, save for a guy with nice suits and a nightclub. Meanwhile, Laurel has been drowning in a sea of confusion / her own tears lately, and it has been made even worse since Tommy’s death. You have Felicity Smoak whose suddenly an accessory to a thousand crimes, a bodyguard-turned vigilante’s assistant in Diggle, and also a guy in Roy Harper who is desperately clinging to the identity of a hero he has never even spoken a single word to. Translation? There are some serious people in need of a soul-searching.

Who knows? It’s possible that some of the other guest stars this season, including Summer Glau and the origins of the Black Canary story, could bring about a little more debate as to what it really means to know who you are.
