‘Dexter’ season 8, episode 4 preview: Deb gets a cold, hard dose of truth

DexterWhen Debra Morgan made the move to kill Maria LaGuerta at the end of last season of “Dexter,” she clearly did so with the thinking that she would be able to put a stop to all of the chaos in her life and protect her brother. Did that happen? Hardly. Instead, she opened a Pandora’s Box that was so vast, she is still trying to figure out if it is possible at all for her to close it.

Not only that, but the famous line in the season 8 premiere still rings in our head: “I shot the wrong person in that trailer.” But does Deb really believe that? This is where we land with the newest sneak peek for Sunday night’s new episode. In it, Dr. Vogel did her part to try and tell Jennifer Carpenter’s character that she may tell herself that to make herself feel better, but in reality, she knows that there is no other scenario that she would have chosen other than saving Dexter. Why? Because that is the option that she will always choose.

It is difficult to ultimately see just what the real motivations are here for Charlotte Rampling’s character at this point, given that she is trying to empower Dexter enough to solve these Brain Surgeon killings. However, is she also trying to challenge Deb, to make her do the opposite of what she is saying? If you were to look at her as some sort of maternal figure, she could be akin to someone’s mother telling them not to eat candy, and then handing them a bowl full of Jolly Ranchers.

What do you think about this video, and do you think that Deb is going to use Dr. Vogel in any way to try to get over some of her problems? If you want to also read some more news about the show’s Comic-Con panel, be sure to head on over to the link here.
