For Misha Collins fans, you’ve known that “Supernatural” season 9 was going to be a big one for Castiel ever since the promotion to series regular happened this past spring. However, what you may not have learned until now is just what the impact he and some of the other angels could have on the story this year.
If you recall back to the finale, one of the biggest stunners was seeing the descent of so many angels, and wondering what in the world was going to happen to Castiel as a result of this. Now, we are getting some confirmation that the character will be fully human, which opens the door for all sorts of possibilities. Collins reportedly confirms the news (via SpoilerTV) in TV Guide’s upcoming Comic-Con issue, which you can read more about here. Meanwhile, executive producer Jeremy Carver says to expect that there are many dangers that will come out of having such a large crop of characters respond very differently to the unique set of circumstances that have been now placed before them:
“[We] can absolutely expect that different angels will have different reactions to life on Earth. That will lead to a lot of exciting, dangerous, and fun stories to explore.”
We fully expect to see many angels try to fight back Metatron, but how will so many of them even do so in their weakened state? It’s almost the “Supernatural” equivalent of Jaime Lannister losing his hand; so much of the characters’ identity has now been completely stripped away, and they have to figure out just what is going to be coming for them next.
