‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ has a surprise fan: Johnny Depp?

This has not been a particularly fantastic past few days when it comes to Johnny Depp. First, he has to deal with the news that “The Lone Ranger” is turning out to be an enormous flop domestically for Disney; and now, he is publicly admitting to watching TLC’s ultimate train wreck “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

To be fair, the award-winning actor has said in the past that he does have a certain affinity for this described “trash” TV, and it is something that he watches pretty often. You have to at least give him credit for being honest, right? For a little bit more of an explanation / defense of his behavior, just check out what Depp had to say during an “Extra” interview:

“I’m a little frightened of the show … That’s the thing . . . they’re probably great people, but there are bits that happen that just I am mesmerized by … I mean, yeah, I guess I could be called a fan.”

The way Depp describes the series is almost the same way that many fans out there do, almost as if you are watching a car accident that for whatever reason, you can’t turn away from.

Depp’s timing here is also around a year or so behind the times; while “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” turned into a pop-culture smash in many ways when she first came on the air last year in her full-fledged spin-off show (complete with cheesy catch-phrases), she has since more or less disappeared from the public consciousness save for the people who watch her show loyally.
