‘Nurse Jackie’ season 6 spoilers: Eve Best will not return

Nurse JackieThere’s some breaking news coming in now about the future of “Nurse Jackie,” as it appears that a certain co-star of Edie Falco (pictured here) is going to be saying goodbye to the show prior to the start of the sixth season.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Richie Jackson teased that Eve Best would not be coming back to the show, with the decision being based around her wanting to spend some more time back in a familiar city rather than any desire to actually not be around the cast and crew anymore:

“It was her choice. She wanted to move back to London and devote time to theatre work there.”

The good news when it comes to this show in particular is that they have already been through quite a few creative changes already. We’ve seen a showrunner change to Clyde Phillips, and the story-lines have also shifted quite a bit over the years. While Best will be missed, we have a feeling that the critically-acclaimed show will still be fine at the end of the day.

“Nurse Jackie” will begin filming in the months ahead, with the new season premiering on Showtime at some point early next year. Hopefully, we will have an opportunity to see the quality remain as rich as it always is, and the show regain a little bit of its awards-show momentum that it has seemingly lost over the past couple of years.

Are you surprised or saddened by this news, and do you think that the show will be just fine with out Best? Be sure to share your thoughts below! If you want to read some more news when it comes to the “Nurse Jackie” renewal, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
