‘Glee’ season 5: Darren Criss reveals connection to ‘The Voice’s’ Michelle Chamuel

While Darren Criss is spending his time before “Glee” season 5 touring around the country, he has also managed to check out the new season of NBC’s “The Voice” … which contains an interesting and surprising connection to his past at the University of Michigan. Did you know that he and contestant Michelle Chamuel, who happens to be one of the current favorites to win the title, used to hang out many years ago? We sure didn’t before this week.

Darren first brought this matter to the world’s attention in a series of Twitter messages about the show, which he is still somehow finding the time to watch while simultaneously traveling the country:

“Catchin up on the whole ep of #TheVoice from last night. Insane to see @MichelleChamuel @taylorswift13 & @Usher in the same room #mindBLOWN … So glad @Usher’s as into college pal @MichelleChamuel as I was in school. She was killin it then, she’s killin it now. Good choice. #GoBlue”

Chamuel, who is certainly rather busy in her own right preparing for the next performance show on Monday, was gracious enough to eventually post her own reply:

“Hey @DarrenCriss! Thank you for your love and support. Huge hugs and wish you a wonderful tour. HOPE TO SEE YOU IN BOSTON :D. You = the BEST”

What we actually find especially cool about this is how humble Michelle is about the whole ordeal. She never went around and bragging about her going to college with a big-name TV star; as a matter of fact, we’re not sure we would have ever known had Darren not brought it up. Who knows? Maybe this will get her the support necessary to bring her over the top. She’s been consistently strong all season, but Blake Shelton has a ton of fans supporting his acts.
