‘Continuum’ season 3 official; Showcase renews Rachel Nichols series

ContinuumIf you are a fan of Canadian-made television, Wednesday has really turned out to be a rather great day for you. First, there was the news in the morning that “Big Brother Canada” was coming back for a second season after its successful season on Slice. Now, we also know for sure that there will be more “Continuum” in the future.

In a statement today, Showcase confirmed that the Rachel Nichols sci-fi project, which is the network’s highest-rated original series, will be back for a season 3 next year. The only thing more refreshing than this news? Probably that the network did not waste much time at all in announcing it, which is always a major show of confidence to the writers who can start diving into ideas without looking so much over their shoulder and wondering if an ax is coming for them.

This news also comes at a great time for viewers in America potentially wondering whether or not to give the show a shot. “Continuum” season 2 premieres on Syfy Friday night at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. While the show was not the ratings smash south of the border that it has been in Canada, this could change if more and more people start to find out about it.

As a general fan of the sci-fi genre, we always have to celebrate one of its products coming back on the air for more. We have seen so many good shows end lately, after all, that it is always nice to see a show get a chance to tell their stories without feeling rushed.

We had a chance to chat with Nichols before this season of “Continuum” even started to air in Canada, and if you want to read a little about that, you can do so over here.
