‘Shameless’ season 4 spoilers: Justin Chatwin will not return as series regular
Sorry, “Shameless” fans, but it is starting to look more and more like Jimmy didn’t make it past the end of the season. Season 3 ended with an array of shockers, but one of the major ones was seeing Justin Chatwin’s life completely hang in the balance. We were hoping to see him back with some sort of revival storyline, but it looks like that will not be happening entirely.
Speaking at a TV Academy panel last night, show creator Josh Wells first broke the news that Chatwin is not going to be a series regular on the show moving forward. However, it is important to make a key distinction here that this news does not necessarily mean that the character is dead. Showtime claims that it is possible that the actor could appear for one or two episodes in the upcoming fourth season. As for whether or not it would be as a hallucination or a character leaving via some means other than death, that remains to be seen.
Regardless of how he goes out, Chatwin will be missed. The success of “Shameless” over the past few years has been through primarily chemistry within the cast above all else, and without one of the key players in that, the cast as a whole could end up suffering. We will just have to see what sort of plans are put into place as the show continues to dive deeper into production.

Nobody could ever come back into The Gallaghers house to replace Steve/Jimmy…I just can’t see the show going forward without him! So, whatever you guys have to do to keep Justin Chatwin as a regular on Shameless…F’N DO IT!!!! The show wouldn’t be half as interesting as it is if he leaves,, and that’s no reflection on anyone else of the regular cast members, it’s just the reality! Fiona has to have someone and trying to cast any other man for that part would never work full time. What I/we love most about the show is the dynamics of all the characters different relationships and there’s no replacing his character in the show. Any other type of relationship for Fiona would just be 2nd rate and you can’t bring another actor to come in and try to create another guy that would be able to keep the storyline going any better than Steve/Jimmy. So, PLEASE DON’T CUT HIS CHARACTER DOWN TO A FEW LOUSY EPISODES…HE NEEDS TO BE A SERIES REGULAR! You could at the most leave us hanging for one maybe two episodes before bringing him back to the Gallaghers house to stay for good after that I doubt I’d keep watching it without him! Hopefully, you will DO THE RIGHT THING JOSH WELLS AND KEEP HIM! Otherwise, I promise you that your ratings will start to drop after that! I am dying for the fourth season to start even though the third basically just ended, but without Justin’s character appearing by the second or third episode ill be done watching,, at least until someone tells me he’s back!
