‘America’s Got Talent’ premiere video: Mel B, Heidi Klum meet the new Spice Girls

So what happens when Mel B gets together with Howard Stern? The simple answer is that he decides to troll her to the best of his ability.

Tuesday night marks the premiere for “America’s Got Talent” on NBC, and one of the things that we are going to see within the episodes ahead is an example of “girl power” of the worst kind. As the video below shows, Mel’s attempts to celebrate strong women with fellow new judge Heidi Klum turn south when two young women come on stage to show off their skills as a pop music duo. The problem? These two could not be any more terrible if they tried. Neither is particularly decent at singing … or dancing … or doing anything. When we first saw that there was a sheet involved in the act, there was a serious part of us hoping that this was in some way going to involve magic. Who doesn’t want to see a female magic duo?

Alas, it was not to be, and then Howard had the audacity to compare these two women to the Spice Girls. This of course infuriates Mel B, who seems as a whole to be showing off a much softer, funnier side than the terrifying schoolteacher-esque character that wagged her finger as “X Factor” UK auditioners last season. Then again, this is a much sillier show, and one that needs a different kind of personality.
