NBC’s ‘Revolution’ season 2 production moves away from North Carolina

As you may know already, “Revolution” season 2 is going to be making a pretty key move when it comes to its time slot. After sitting pretty with its cushy lead-in after “The Voice” all season long, the drama will be airing on NBC Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. in the fall. This means that it will go from being a closer to being a starter, which is a bit riskier of a position without a doubt.

To go along with this, it also turns out that there will be a change in setting, for creative rather than cost reasons. (Warning: There may be possible spoilers ahead!) According to a local outlet in the Wilmington, North Carolina, the show will be heading from North Carolina down to Austin, Texas for the new season. Executive producer Eric Kripke and the rest of the staff decided that there was a different look needed to represent the future of the story, and thus, the change was made.

This news is a little bit of a blow to North Carolina’s film and TV industry, though they can still take solace in being the home of “Homeland,” one of the best series out there. Many shows these days are moving away from the familiar Los Angeles setting for either cost or creative reasons: “Once Upon a Time” and “Supernatural” are in Vancouver, “The Good Wife” is in New York, “The Vampire Diaries” is in Atlanta, and the pilot for “The Originals” was shot in New Orleans. If you look at cable, the field is even more diverse.
