‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Could another famed hero turn up?

ArrowWhen you have a show like “Arrow,” one of the clear benefits is that it is has such a rich history in the DC universe. Therefore, the opportunities to bring other famed characters into the fold are present, and the option then becomes whether or not you want to bring them on board, and what sort of story could come as a result.

Thus far, most of the familiar characters (at least on a good vs. evil standpoint) have been villains, in between China White, Deadshot, the Huntress, and of course the Count. (We do have Roy Harper, but he hasn’t lived up to his full potential yet.) But what about another major superhero in the Green Lantern? “Arrow” executive producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim did work on the Ryan Reynolds movie about the character, and the latter says (per MovieWeb) that this could at least be something that they would explore down the road:

“I would never say never. It’s certainly something that we’ve talked about. As with all DC characters, we have to figure out a way for those characters to fit within our Arrow universe. But when you consider the importance that Hal Jordan plays in the Green Arrow comics, it’s certainly one of those names that we’ve discussed a great deal. I have Ryan Reynolds’ phone number around here somewhere.”

Before you start freaking out about Reynolds and how you didn’t like the cheesy, CGI-heavy version of the character, we’re pretty sure that Guggenheim is joking about giving him a call given that this is a realistic universe here versus one with superpowers left and right. With that being said, we personally see this as maybe a season 4 story, mostly because there are still interesting avenues to explore with the current cast (Harper’s journey, the Black Canary) that need to be fully explored.

What’s your take on the Green Lantern issue, and is there a DC hero you would want to show up here? We know already that there will be more of Deadshot in season 2, and that Oliver Queen will not be the only main character in the spotlight.
