Is NCIS new tonight on CBS? An October 23 update
Is NCIS new tonight on CBS? We’d love nothing more than to say that the long-running crime procedural is officially back.
So, are we going to get that opportunity? Unfortunately, we can’t say that we are anywhere near that lucky, at least for the time being. Because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, there is no precise indication as to when season 21 is going to start filming. The writers are back at work, but their own process has been delayed rather significantly over the past several months. Our hope remains that there is at least some sort of chance that we will get to see some more episodes in either January or February.
With this in mind, let’s go ahead and note the one positive thing that we can share when it comes to resolving the actors’ strike — talks between the union and the AMPTP conglomerate (a.k.a. the group of streamers and studios) are set to take place starting tomorrow. While we don’t expect some sort of immediate outcome here, at the same exact time we do think there has to be some urgency. If this can be resolved within the next couple of weeks, that would allow for production to potentially start before Thanksgiving. If that happens, then there is a chance that a January premiere could still, in theory, happen.
Do we think that CBS wants to get NCIS back on the air as soon as possible? Absolutely, and it is for that very reason that they need to be especially proactive in trying to end the strike. We know that they only have so much power as one network, but they can push things in the right direction.
Rest assured, we are confident that when the show comes back, you will get some sort of cliffhanger resolution, and then potentially a tribute to the late David McCallum.
