‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, episode 7 preview: What’s in ‘The Bear and the Maiden Fair’

Game of ThronesWinter is not only coming on “Game of Thrones” season 3 Sunday night, but so is writer George R.R. Martin. The man responsible for penning this entire series was kind enough to contribute the script for “The Bear in the Maiden Fair,” which is an intriguing title for those unfamiliar with the books. For those who have, it is a very intriguing title indeed.

We don’t think we’re giving anything too major away when we say that there is actually a bear that physically appears during the episode, mostly because this is something that was previously reported leading up to this episode airing in that there was a scene featuring the live animal shot in Los Angeles, (this is also the first time that “Game of Thrones” has ventured to this strange land known as America). As for the context of the bear, we’ll leave that a secret for now so that some of you can be surprised.

While we gave you some sort of sense as to who is going to be appearing in this episode with the promo, the upcoming synopsis also gives a little bit more away:

“Dany exchanges gifts with a slave lord outside of Yunkai. As Sansa frets about her prospects, Shae chafes at Tyrion’s new situation. Tywin counsels the king, and Melisandre reveals a secret to Gendry. Brienne faces a formidable foe in Harrenhal.”

While Jon Snow is omitted here, we know that Jon is going to eventually be back for more. Meanwhile, we’re practically begging for something Dany-related after one full episode off and one two weeks ago that felt like a tease that practically didn’t go anywhere at all.

We don’t know how else to say this, so we’re just going to sum it up instead with the following: You’re in for something awesome tomorrow night. We know it’s Mother’s Day, but take her out to breakfast if you’re worried that she doesn’t like swords, scoundrels, or maidens casting away their clothes. There’s time to fit both of them into your schedule.
