America’s Got Talent results show #1: Who advanced to finale?

America's Got Talent season 18

Tonight on NBC we had a chance to see the first America’s Got Talent results show of the season! With that, why not discuss who advanced to the finale?

First things first, though, it is well-worth mentioning just how ridiculous it is in the modern era that only two acts make it through to the next round. Not only are you vastly diminishing the overall amount of talent you are getting here, but you are also not allowing many opportunities to true variety acts. After all, historically singers tend to dominate the voting, whereas a lot of the underdogs and really creative acts finish in third or fourth place. Now, they have to be reliant more on a wild card — and only one of them will be chosen from all of the live shows.

Now that we’ve said all of that, let’s go ahead and share some thoughts on the results for tonight! We will have more as the episode goes on, so be sure to refresh!

The Top Five – Olexandr and Magic Innovations, Brynn Cummings, and Lavender Darcangelo were the first three announced to that spot. Then, you could add Adrian & Hurricane and then Mitch Rossell to the list. We can’t say that we are too shocked by what we’re seeing here.

Who ended up advancing? – This is where we are a little bit surprised! Lavender was the no-brainer to advance given her big voice and backstory. However, Adrian & Hurricane took the next spot! We would have assumed that the country vote would have been enough for Mitch but on this case, it was proven to not be enough and now, he is out the door.

We’ll now just have to wait and see what else happens moving into the live shows next week.
