‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Laura Carmichael teases Edith secrets

There are some pretty great things coming up on “Downton Abbey” season 4, and while many of them have remained a secret for quite a long time, the veil is at least starting to be lifted on a certain story revolving around a fan favorite in Lady Edith.

Near the end of last season (with the Christmas special, in fact), we first found out that she was starting to dive into some sort of relationship with newspaper man Michael Gregson, even though he is technically married and she had already had some rather bad experiences with older men in the past (see Sir Anthony).

So what makes this relationship so special? Speaking in a new interview with Celebuzz, Laura Carmichael had the following to say about how Gregson makes her feel like more than just a member of a wealthy family:

“She’s sort of found a voice for herself and someone is interested in her for that reason.”

In addition to this, Carmichael also opened up about a certain something that constantly seems to grab the attention of “Downton Abbey” fans all around the globe: The fashion. Since we are in a different period of time now, you can only expect the clothing to become even more extravagant as a result:

“It’s fantastic … Season 4 we’re in the ‘20s, so I’ve got a lot of great costumes coming up. Edith is having s bit of a great time, really.  She’s got a job as a writer in London, so she reflects some of the newer fashions.”
