‘Dancing with the Stars 16’ rankings: Sean Lowe in danger; Kellie Pickler still tops

Dancing with the StarsWe’ve been a broken record on this subject as of late, but it is once again worth mentioning that 2012-13 has not been the year for men on “Dancing with the Stars.” During the first-ever all-star season in the fall, we had three women in the finals and not a single man in sight. Now, it’s tracking almost in the same sort of direction. While we occasionally have hope for a certain NFL star, the dominance of the three remaining ladies is so astounding that we don’t know if any of them can be beat.

The one thing that does at least make things interesting? That with Andy Dick gone, all of the six remaining people have at least some sort of dance ability. Now, the true competitive part of the competition really starts to kick in.

6. Sean Lowe & Peta Murgatroyd (last week: 6) – He lost straight up in the dance duel to Ingo this past week, and he also is the only remaining person that we know for sure has spent a week in the bottom two. Things aren’t looking so great for the “Bachelor” right now, and he needs to have the best dance of his life Monday to stand a chance.

5. Ingo Rademacher & Kym Johnson (5) – While Ingo was not saved until the end of Tuesday’s show, it was not revealed that he was actually in the bottom two. What is the reason for this? We personally see it as ABC declining to reveal that Sean is clearly the next person to go. Ingo’s a slightly better dancer (though it is close), and he does have that soap-opera voting block behind him.

4. Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff (3) – We want to put Jacoby higher, but the problem is just that he, like the other men, is inconsistent while the women are consistently great. You can never rule out an NFL player, though, and what he has to hope for is that some of the women’s voting blocks will cancel each other out.

3. Zendaya & Val Chmerkovskiy (2) – Ready for some controversy? We could see Zendaya leaving before the final four, if for no other reason than that she’s just not that well-known. Despite having a great roster on the show over the years (Sabrina Bryan, Kyle Massey, Cody Linley, Chelsea Kane), none of them have ever won the competition.

2. Aly Raisman & Mark Ballas (4) – Meanwhile, Aly has stepped up her dancing, and already has the far-reaching Olympics support base behind her. As if she needed even more of a boost, Mark, like Val, is a very popular male partner with the fans that knows how to work with athletes.

1. Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough (1) – Yet again, we have the same #1. “Dancing with the Stars” never reveals their voting statistics, but we just cannot imagine a universe in which Kellie and Derek are ranked anywhere else. They are just so consistently strong, so entertaining, and have built-in audiences to boot. It’s everything that a “Dancing with the Stars” partnership can hope for.
