‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: How casting news becomes announced

Sons of AnarchyIn the latest chapter of “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter’s “WTFSutter” video series, there was no enormous announcement when it comes to the production of the show (which starts up later this month) or casting. However, what you do learn is a little bit about how the news on guest stars and series regulars hits the internet.

For those of you who have ever wondered why you typically find out castings from TV news sites like this one rather than from the FX brass themselves, the simple answer is that it is all part of the game. Actors have representatives and publicists, and it always benefits them to have the news hit as wide of an audience as possible, including those who do not even watch the show. As a way of being respectful, showrunners and other people in the know typically have no problem with this happening.

When it comes to Sutter’s show, we actually don’t know any new castings for season 6 just yet. Instead, what has been confirmed thus far are the returns of Jimmy Smits, Drea de Matteo, and Donal Logue for more work after they all played substantial roles in season 5.

For those of you who are motorcycle enthusiasts, Sutter also in the video talks about his experiences biking, the importance of getting a Harley over other, less expensive brands, and wearing a helmet at all times. Considering the role that biking has in the world of the show, it’s always nice to get a real-world perspective.

As always, the video contains some language (you’ve been warned). If you want to subscribe to Sutter’s channel, just click the button over at his page.
