FX’s ‘The Americans’ season 2 spoilers: Philip and Elizabeth reunite, Claudia’s future unsure
If you haven’t had a chance to watch “The Americans” season finale from last night yet, then we urge you to stop reading now, but if you have and you’re dying to know what’s coming up next season, including if Margo Martindale’s Claudia will be returning then read on.
First we’ll focus this article on the fate of Claudia. Elizabeth and Philip have asked for her to be reassigned after she had them kidnapped and tortured in order to make sure that they were loyal to the KGB and with Martindale being cast in a CBS comedy pilot fans are wondering if she will be coming back for season 2. While TV Line was at a TV Academy panel Martindale teased her return to the FX series by saying “I’m still alive, that’s the good part.”
What about Philip and Elizabeth’s relationship? She asked Philip to come home and he nodded in agreement after they almost got caught on their last mission. Things are starting to look up as far as the Jennings marriage is concerned, but remember that Philip is actually married to Martha at this point and it will likely play a big role next season. Also Paige has started to become curious about some of the strange rules their parents have placed on the kids, like not being able to go into their bedroom ever and she has become curious enough to even check up on some of her mother’s lies, just to make see if they are true or not. Although Paige didn’t find anything incriminating in the laundry room during the season finale, executive producer Joe Weisberg says that at some point the suspicions of the Jennings children will be addressed. He said: “We’ve been thinking all along about the kids of [Philip and Elizabeth] and what their lives are like and what kind of things, through their whole childhood, have been going on. For everyone, at some point in their adolescence, you start to suspect that your parents aren’t exactly who you thought they were.”
