‘Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites’ review: Do we have another shocker?

John CochranIf there is one way that we can best describe the new episode of “Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites” from Wednesday night, it’s this: After last week’s episode, nothing else was going to come close to being as epic. Luckily, CBS still managed to put out a solid hour of TV, complete with an immunity idol fakeout, an immunity challenge surprise, and an old favorite in the food auction.

We especially loved how this particular option really felt like a game for Jeff Probst, who was wheeling and dealing. There were some strange choices made, though like who didn’t want to vote $500 for a clue to help them in the game? While Malcolm didn’t find the idol, someone was going to. We had Brenda (who with Phillip gone is now a character on the show) being tortured with pig brain, Reynold getting one slice of pizza,  and Cochran getting a huge advantage in the immunity challenge.

By no means would Cochran have gotten this necklace if he was competing like every other person in a battle for physical endurance. It still has to be said, though that he’s got more individual immunities so far than anyone else in the game. Shocker!

For fans of Malcolm, the stunner for tonight was just that he couldn’t ironically find an idol when he had help trying to point it out to him. This was in part thanks to Andrea brilliantly antagonizing him, and giving him no real opportunity at all to go look. With him gone, there’s potential for everyone to scatter yet again … and somehow, Eddie and Reynold may be able to last a little while longer. These two have really done a pretty great job of hanging around, given though nobody has really wanted them there since the very beginning.

Are you sad to see Malcolm leave the game at this stage, and do you think this is proof that he went a little overboard with his plan? If you want to see a behind-the-scenes look at this immunity challenge, you can do so over at the link here.
