It’s rather ironic that we just showed off the new “Revolution” trailer from WonderCon earlier today, and now we have a new extended look at a show that really has quite a bit in common with it: TNT’s “Falling Skies.” This is a series that has had an enormous amount of potential behind it over the course of the past several years, but the episodes as presented thus far have been inconsistent at best. The premieres and finales are fantastic, but sometimes the middle portions tend to become slow and plodding.
Regardless of what we may think about some of the flaws when it comes to the series, there is almost no questioning one thing: the new trailer that was just unveiled for the show this weekend is amazing. As a matter of fact, it may be the best thing the series has done thus far, and it could convince new viewers to check out a show that they have never had any interest in watching.
While there may not be too much in the way of new footage here, this trailer does an incredible job at serving as a retrospective of everything that has happened on the show thus far, from life before the invasion to some of the early days of the 2nd Mass. Not only that, but it is set to a haunting piano refrain that plays out over and over again. It really helps you remember that this is a Steven Spielberg-produced show, since it very much feels like a trailer for one of his movies. (If the show had a score like this, we would be absolutely giddy with joy.)
Expect to see more aliens, more drama, and hopefully a little bit of hope somewhere factored in to what should be a great series of episodes ahead.
What do you think about this trailer? “Falling Skies” premieres on TNT on June 9, and you can read even more news about it over here.
