Just when you were starting to think that awards season was starting to really wind itself down, Nickelodeon brings it roaring back on Saturday night with their annual Kids Choice Awards. It’s a showcase of slime, silliness, and celebrities getting an opportunity to reach out to their youngest demographics while also receiving awards for it.
While we’ll have a list of the winners later (at least for the candidates that are relevant to this site), we figured we’d at least start things off by sharing the names of some of the TV stars set to be in attendance for the show: they include the likes of Lucy Hale, Cory Monteith, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Carell, Kaley Cuoco, Neil Patrick Harris, and others. Most of the presenters and performers are people who do great work, but also know not to take themselves too seriously (which is a good thing, considering that they may be doused in slime at some point during the show).
The nominees this year are an eclectic bunch: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez of course have a number of nominations, and they are joined by some Nick favorites including Victoria Justice, Cosgrove, and others. There are of course a few eyebrow-raisers, including Tim Tebow being up for an athlete award despite doing close to nothing with the New York Jets all year long.
The host this year in Josh Duhamel is a little bit of a surprise, mostly because he’s known more as an actor than a comedian, and also is someone who hasn’t really made too many movies that are necessarily for a younger demographic. Nonetheless, his wife Fergie is expecting, so maybe this is a way for him to help practice a little bit of the road that is ahead.
If you want to get prepared for the big show (and live in the Untied States), you can watch the video over at the link here.
