‘The Walking Dead’ season 3 spoilers: Exec talks finale, transition to season 4

The Walking DeadIn just a week and a half, the executives over at AMC are going to be very, very sad. Why? The ratings monster known as “The Walking Dead” will be over, and soon after that they will have to simply have fond memories of high demo numbers for a good half a year. As for us, we’re just going to be sad to have a world without walkers and jaw-droppers for a while.

So are we going to have any sort of enormous game-changers that take place before we reach the end this year? Surprisingly, it doesn’t really seem like it, at least based on what executive producer Gale Ann Hurd recently had to say in a new interview with Zap2It:

“I don’t think it takes any huge left turns. The show continues to evolve. Every season there’s continuity from the season before but the stakes tend to vary. Every season we have different obstacles and threats and that will continue into Season 4.”

Hurd also explained a little bit about what sort of role that she and some of the other executive producers have to play in the writing process, as the first half of the upcoming season has already been broken down when it comes to story:

“All of the executive producers are involved in a kick-off meeting. We sit down and bounce ideas around. But because the writers are there day to day, you can’t be the Monday morning quarterback. There’s a lot of feedback, but when we met with [new showrunner Scott Gimple] even before the announcement was made to see what his vision was, all of us — executive producers, as well as AMC — were incredibly supportive [of his vision].”
