‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: Sarah Drew on Jackson / Matthew dilemma

Sarah Drew“Grey’s Anatomy” would not be “Grey’s Anatomy” were it not for the occasional romantic subplot, and for the latest example of this, just take a look at the rather complicated nature of April’s personal life. It’s clear that there are still some sort of feelings there between her and Jackson even after the two went their separate ways earlier this season, but she is also trying to move on with a hunky EMT named Matthew who brings plenty to the table. However, you can meet the perfect guy, and they may still not be perfect for you.

So is this what is going to happen between April and her new love interest? Sarah Drew spoke recently on this subject to TVLine, and she did her best to explain how her character is thinking through all of these issues in her mind, only to not have them work out the way that she wants them to in reality:

“I think that she in her head decided Jackson is not the right guy for her, but her heart is still very connected to him. And in her head, Matthew is exactly the right guy for her — he sees the world the same way she does, he has the same values, he really delights in her and loves things about her, where Jackson in the past has made fun of her, you know what I mean? But Jackson also loves her, cares for her and knows her better than anybody else on the planet knows her. I think if she’s going to wind up with Jackson – and I still don’t know who she’s going to wind up with — her head has got to learn how to communicate with her heart. It’s all very complicated! [Laughs]”

Will there be some progress still for these two characters? We’re almost certain of it, but it may take until the end of the season for either one of them to be able to take that next step. (It also wouldn’t be past Shonda Rhimes to make this into a cliffhanger.)

What do you think that April should do with these two men? If you want to watch some new sneak peeks from Thursday’s episode, you can do so over here.
