‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Another Lea Michele, Idina Menzel duet coming
While you probably assumed that this was going to be happening from just about the moment that Idina Menzel was announced to be coming back to “Glee” for at least one more new episode, it is still more than a little bit refreshing to hear: the Broadway star will be teaming up with Lea Michele for another duet as Shelby Corcoran and her daughter Rachel Berry.
Michele confirmed the news on Twitter late last week that the two parties were heading back to the studio in order to record another song with Alex Anders, but the real question at the moment is just what the two will be performing. Given the stage history that is between them, it is probably pretty safe to assume that it will be something related to the stage.
The suspected story that could involve both characters is that Shelby shows up in order to help Rachel prepare for her “Funny Girl” audition, which is something that has been teased on the show during the “Diva” episode. It will also be interesting to see what is going on now in the life of the former Vocal Adrenaline coach: the last time that we saw her, it was in season 3 and she was giving Quinn and Puck an opportunity to spend time with their child Beth while at the same time working to coach up the Trouble Tones. She eventually left McKinley, and went on to pursue some of her own dreams.

Can’t wait for Idina to return! She and Lea have great chemistry. I agree with everyone about need more NY focus. The new kids are not interesting and really have brought down the show. The new New Directions is all flash and no substance, it’s why they need all the fancy costuming, where as the Original New Directions was pure talent and heart and could pull of big group numbers in jean and t-shirts. They need Finn in NY along with Puck and Quinn. I’m hoping S5 down sizes the Lima focus and gets back to the core characters of the show.

I am so looking forward to seeing Rachel and Shelby share the screen again! I wish Glee would have Mr. Schue move to NYC to either coach a Glee club there or try to make his way on Broadway. Then we could get rid of everyone in Lima which would be great because the Lima scenes are boring! The new kids have no charisma and can’t sing as well as the old ones! The writers no longer know what to do with Jane Lynch and seriously, now they want Wemma to start over? NO! Will and Emma need to split – he should be sngle in NYC! Finn can go to college and get back together with Rachel who should be starring in her first Broadway show! Then we could see more Kurt, Santana, with more of the original kids visiting or chatting via Skype. Lima is over! Time to move on!

What’s sad is that Ryan ruined the show with the new kids. I’m more confused bout the black man/woman now than before, kitty is awful evil, and no one says anything, Tina, Blaine, Sam, britt, Artie are limited in wht they can do cuz of these awful characters. I’m a GLEEK I looooove glee. But I find myself fast forwarding thru McKinley high scenes and songs. NYC is much better. I jus dnt care about Lima anymore. Ryan killed my fav show. This is prob my last season watching cuz it jus gets worse. N the season is so broken up, goodness. 3 episodes and ANOTHER break? I’m over it.

I agree I’m a lot more interested about the New York story. Even though Rachel has changed so much and forgotten why she is there it does happen to people, you try to force yourself to become an adult and do adult things and you get side tracked. But something brings you back and by the looks of it Rachel gets her focus back. I also thing Finn’s story is interesting because he’s not like Rachel who’s known what she’s wanted to do by the time she was 4, he just started to think about his future serioulsly recently so it’s only natural that he’s goning to be lost for a while. But now that he doesn’t have Rachel and the Glee Club to hide behind and found his passion he can finally get his life back on track. And eventually his girl.

I go along w Lulu. I’m much more engaged by the NYC story and cast, though I would very much like other vets to join them in NYC (glad Santana did, but would also like Mercedes, Mike, Artie and maybe 1-2 others). The talents & chemistry of the original cast and characters are so perfect; the opportunities for story line and character development offered by a large city w multiple performing styles and outlets would be phenomenal.
I would miss the teachers, but I would be most happy for a spin-off. Some people really like the Lima scenario, but HS stories are often limited. That being said, RIB do kick butt @ stretching envelopes: Feud was very good; though I missed my Kurt fix. Feud was the first episode where the newbies even partially engaged me, other than WUnique (or Marley WHEN she’s singing a duet). Otherwise, they’re all pretty vanilla, except for Kitty who has been flat-out evil.

Doug, my take on the show is completely opposite of yours. To me the show has suffered by trying to keep the Lima story relevent when the NYC story is far more interesting, and has some great potential if they would give it the time. Rachel and Kurt make the show for me and now with Santana in the mix…

I’ve had enough of this version of Glee. It’s a totally different show about totally different themes with totally different take on high school kids. This New York storyline is a joke as far as what Glee started out as and meant to the fans. Is Cory only working now because he’s Lea’s boytoy and she said he has to be? His character certainly isn’t required and the storyline being created for his character is a joke. I’m just pretty much anti-Glee now. Enough said.
