ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2, episode 15 review: Remembering Amanda Clarke

RevengeWhile you would expect the funeral for a beloved character to be an emotional affair, this is just not the way that primetime soaps work. For some evidence of this, just take a look at Sunday night’s new episode of “Revenge,” or you could even look ahead to what “Dallas” is planning to do with the service for J.R. Ewing on Monday night.

The most emotional moment of the entire episode came with about ten minutes left, as Jack, while preparing for the service, emotionally confronted Emily after learning just how close she and his late wife were growing up and in juvy together. He understandably questioned as to why in the world she kept all of this a secret, and also seemed to have steam pouring out of his ears when he started to realize that Amanda’s “revenge plot” against the Graysons was something she was in the know about. (Of course, Jack managed to completely still be blissfully unaware of the fact that he was looking at the real Amanda for the entire conversation.)

As for the most horrible moment, that comes courtesy of Victoria Grayson seriously trying to give Emily some sort of silver lining for Amanda’s death … that her father wasn’t there to see it. Could she be any more awful in that moment? The only one who comes close is Conrad, who was still up to know good even while at Amanda’s service.

This story really meant far more to us that anything we saw with the Initiative, which continues to largely perplex. Aiden has found yet another way to work himself back into the fray, and he helped get Emily the laptop that could send the Graysons to prison. This is where things did thankfully come together, as she used this laptop to toss into the ocean, as she wanted nothing short of the worst kind of punishment for this family … one that did not involve prison.

The end of this episode found Emily in a very dark place: she was committed to her cause again, and in the closing seconds she ran into contact with someone else that she will have to contend with: a ghost from her past in a brother from the days of foster care.
