‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: More music for Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Naya Rivera
The New York crew on “Glee” is going to be getting plenty of burn throughout the rest of season 4, and if you were disappointed about the small amount of screen time that these characters were receiving early on, don’t worry: with Santana now joining Rachel and Kurt in the Big Apple, there is going to be plenty of story to tell.
We already know that the show’s returning episode “Girls (and Boys) on Film” Thursday is at least going to address what is going on with Lea Michele’s character and her pregnancy scare, we are hearing yet again from the actress herself that there are more musical numbers on the way soon. Michele tweeted out on Friday that she is working on a number along with the likes of Chris Colfer and Naya Rivera, meaning all three of our New York characters (minus sleazy Brody) are going to get an opportunity to step into the spotlight.
While at the Paley Center for Media event honoring him late this past week, executive producer Ryan Murphy said that what we are going to see much of season 4 moving forward are some story ideas that are new to the franchise, as the show is going to slowly transition into something that will have a different attitude in season 5. While there is no word yet as to whether or not New Directions and McKinley High will have even less of a role moving forward, it is going to become increasingly difficult to keep track of all of the graduated characters while also focusing on the school.

The Finchel heavy focus during season 3 is what made me stop watching the show. They were fine during season 1 but the show got too caught up in them and pushed everyone else to the background. It sucked because the show was supposed to be about a glee club…
I get that Finchel have their fan base, but by constantly focusing on them, they’re alienating a lot of viewers who prefer the side if the show that isn’t all about relationships.
I’ve often had a love hate relationship with Finn, I love when he’s the bumbling jock and he shows his fun or awkward side. But I hate the fact that the writers seemed to have instilled a hero complex in him, when he has actually been responsible for some pretty despicable things, like calling his step brother a fag, outing Santana and encouraging Quinn to cheat with him when he bitched her out of it for cheating on him when they were together.
The thing is, I know it’s not Cory’s fault, but it’s frustrating when you see the likes of Santana, Quinn, Rachel or any of the girls getting it in the neck when they mess up but Finn can get away with it. And not just Finn, but Blaine has the same free pass. There’s a serious double standard on the show, and considering its mass appeal and the influence it has had on young people, it’s not right.

There you go again. The finn haters speak again and they do not understand the character that was introduced in the pilot why should they when the writers have clearly destroyed him most importantly ryan murphy. I have no desire to see broadway lite this show was about two people from different worlds interacting together the comedy of season one was in that interaction between finn and rachel not in the romantic part of the relationship It is not corys fault the writers destroyed that He represents more people than you think people that are talented but lack self esteem that is a real group of people also people who do feel lost and directionless the time has come to start writing him back into the forefront before it is too late.

Of course Finn is still stumbling around, he’s a grade A idiot… that’s all he’s done for the last 3 years. It’s who his character is. If Finn suddenly figured out what he wanted to do without Mr. Shue or Rachel being the instigators behind his decision, it would be more ridiculous because he’s not capable of making decisions on his own. The one decision he did make by himself ended with him shooting himself in the leg. I’m often left flabbergasted that a guy who can’t tell his left from his right and who prayed to a grilled cheese sandwhich is capable of giving life affirming speeches that he pulls out of nowhere? Puck barely graduated high school but at least his character is consistent.
Season 4 of Glee has been about as entertaining as stabbing myself in the eye repeatedly with a rusty nail. It’s been excruciatingly painful to watch and it’s only getting worse. I mean seriously Quinn and Santana? That’s the stupidest thing to happpen since the episode with everyone (aside from Quinn and Kurt) being happy that Finn and Rachel were engaged….in HIGH SCHOOL!!
The newbies are pointless…. and it’s frustrating that the original cast are all spread out and rarely used. And when they are, they’re used very poorly. New York will be more bareable now that Santana is being moved over there, but it’s still going to suffer due to the fact that the show is called Glee, and none of the main cast in NY are in an actual Glee club. I mean Rachel and Kurt are at a performing arts college and we rarely see them actually performing.
It’s also really messed up a lot of character developement. Quinn as a character grew so much during season 3, she actually showed she has a heart, but in season 4, they’ve abused her character for cheap laughs. She’s completely regressed back into the Quinn she was in season 2.
I don’t know how a fifth season will work, but if the declining ratings are anything to go by, then the show needs a serious face lift. Possibly starting with firing the current writing staff.
The only thing I have enjoyed about this season is the fact I haven’t had to watch Finchel or Klaine sucking face every 5 mins and got to see there characters doing “storylines” on their own, rather than constantly being wrapped up in each other.
I’d rather see Glee end after this season than see talent like Lea Michele and Naya Rivera reduced to playing out these poorly written storylines. I’d rather see them venture off outside the show like Dianna Agron and start putting their focus into other projects. I’m excited for Lea’s album, but I don’t think I can stand seeing her playing Rachel Berry for another year.

I’d like for Finn to be more visible, as well. He’s been shown as bumbling and working his way through things through the whole series, but he’s also been a key factor in resolution when push came to shove (once he worked through what was right). Not perfect, but who is? Not sure what he’d do in NYC, but would like to see. Finn & Rachel have as excellent chemistry as do Kurt and Blaine (ditto performers). Kurt and Adam have a good chemistry, as well, so THAT whole story should be interesting, as well. BTW, liked Betty..she has attitude and Artie was steady enough to get past it. Good job on that. Time will tell ;P

I’m ecstatic, hearing that NYC will have more time and songs…While I’m overall happy with the 4th season, though my interest has been centered on Kurt & Rachel in NYC/NYADA and the more adult story options. I’ve been hoping for more vets to make their way to NYC, including Santana, Mercedes & Mike. Mercedes would make a safer roommate, but it should be interesting to see how long the loft will remain intact with those 3 personalities duking it out ;)
I love the VETERAN cast still in Lima, as well as the teachers. I’m engaged by a couple of the newbies (WUnique, with Marley in performance mode w either WUnique or Kitty, but not otherwise), but not overall. Please do not misunderstand: they are very talented, but the characters and situations are…lacking. Figgins has been absent, as has Coach Beiste w Sue dropping in now & again with WEmma.
Despite a slow beginning, highlighted mostly by “The Break-Up”, which was excellent, my favorite episodes have been from Thanksgiving on (though “MakeOver” was great, too). Loved I Do.

Do not care about a show that treated it’s core character Finn like a joke The lesiban goes to new york for no rhyme or reason and no justification whatsoever just as bad as the whole get enough songs built up so fox can squeeze some money out of kids with the new new directions going on concert. The heart of glee was always this guy and his character way more than the online bullies thought. Good luck selling this story because frankly I left this show behind.
