‘Bones’ season 8, episode 17 preview: Brennan’s new intern rattles her cage
Tomorrow night’s episode of “Bones” season 8 is going to be a good one and one that we have been looking forward to for a while. Everyone at the Jeffersonian lab is brilliant, there’s no question about it, and of course Brennan thinks that no one is as smart as she is, especially any of the interns, so when a new intern comes to the lab named Oliver Wells she expects him to follow her guidance and rules without question. When she meet Wells he’s not at all what she expected – he’s just as smart as she is and has a very different way of thinking then she does, opening the doors to possibilities that even Brennan had never thought of or had ruled out as impossible. While working on a case together, Brennan starts to embrace Wells’ new way of thinking and leans towards the real possibility of time travel being an actual explanation during the case they are working on, leaving Booth wondering what this imposter has done with his girlfriend.
In a sneak peek for tomorrow’s new episode of “Bones” season 8 called “The Fact in the Fiction” we have a chance to see Brennan interacting with Wells’ and watch his thought process as he uses string cheese to help him get closer to solving the case. Brennan is none to pleased that the intern has brought food into the lab since there are strict rules she’s put in place about not eating in the lab, taking it away from him, but as soon as she is out of sight he pulls out another package.
Seeing these two interacting with one another is really great because while everyone at the Jeffersonian lab is just as smart as Brennan, no one is confident enough to challenge her way of thinking, especially the interns, but Wells keeps up with Brennan step for step and it actually seems to impress her to some degree (his knowledge and his confidence). It’s refreshing to see someone challenging Brennan and not just cowering from her, and it gives us a pretty cool perspective of her that we rarely get to see.
