‘Suits’ season 2 finale review: Mike and Rachel [spoiler], but not like you think…
“Suits” wrapped up its second season on Thursday night with an episode that did a great deal of drama, and also a few things that you surely never expected to happen in just the way that they did. Ultimately, this is the beauty of the show: even when certain events are predictable, they are still able to feel fresh.
There is not one example of this that shines brighter than witnessing what went down this week between Mike and Rachel. Did we expect them to get together eventually? Definitely, just as we expected Mike to eventually let her in on the secret that he was not who he claimed to be in any shape or form. However, what we never saw coming was for her to have angry sex with him and building a relationship after he told her the one thing that he has been so desperate to hide.
We don’t know for sure that we can say that these two are a couple in any shape or form now, just because they did finally release a bit of tension in the end here. Rachel has to see how she feels about Mike’s secret in the long-term, and Patrick J. Adams’ character also has to figure out what happens next in his career. After all, Mike fired the guy, and this is a relationship that will need repairing ironically around the same time that he and Rachel are starting to come together.
As for the firm itself, the merge initiated by Jessica was something that was expected by us, but in a very good way. With new bosses and new potential relationships, this will give the series the fresh blood that it needs moving forward, and just at the perfect time where continuing along the current path would have grown stale quickly.
Sadly, there’s no more of TV’s most-underrated legal show until summer, so let’s just hope the time off will allow the writers the chance to come up with some great ideas moving forward.

I think David is correct. The writers made Jessica look too harsh in a house divided. After watching every episode and seeing the PBA about women in the work place, I felt betrayed by Jessica. Donna appears to be the true intelligent female on the show.
I don’t see Rachel and Mike’s relationship going anywhere good. It seems it is virtually ‘poor Rachel’. She couldn’t even handle the truth when Louis finally told her. How is she going to handle Mike’s secret? Not very well I don’t believe.
It is a great show all though the premise is indeed false. Plus we never got an answer from Harvey on where he wanted Scottie placed? I would like to see Zoe come back.
As David said “Let Mike go to night school.” “He could do it on hiatus and have a real J.D. so Jessica and the others wouldn’t have anything on him.

Best show ever, and I really mean that. I think it could go on like M*A*S*H, Frazier, or any of those long-running series where the cast is just sterling, and the storyline always matures. It’s nice that cable has something like this.
But, for me, four things in the finale slightly disappointed me. 1) I personally think the merger itself is a story complication that wasn’t needed, but I like the resulting addition of Scottie and the other characters. 2) I wish that Louis had kept his word this once. 3) Jessica has become too harsh of a personality. A real-life firm could not possibly excel to a higher stature with such a divided-house of leadership. That part of this final episode seemed strained. 4) I’m glad Mike and Rachel are really “together”, but Mike’s missing law degree is either something that is critical to his character (and writers shouldn’t so readily expose it), OR writers just need to finally do away with that (has Mike gone to ANY college? Write it in, let him have some bachelor’s degree, and do the New York Law Office Study option…)
I hope the writers don’t burden the show with so many nuances that it breaks the salient storyline that has made it so wonderful to watch.

Loved the finale. In my opinion, one of the best episodes of Suits to date. It’s a shame that the show isn’t as widespread as it could be, because this is definitely one of the sexiest, smartest legal dramas on the air. Harvey and Mike are great character foils for each other, and this episode was just another example of why this show needs more viewers. Soooooo goood.
