‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Sophie Turner talks ’emotional’ road for Sansa
With the “Game of Thrones” season 2 DVD coming out on Tuesday, we are actually getting an opportunity now to check out what some of the stars of the HBO series are saying about the road ahead. When season 3 was filming around the world last summer and fall, most of the characters were reasonably far away from society and thus protected in a little bit of a bubble. So with that in mind, this is really one of the first opportunities we’re really getting to hear from them at all.
One such example of this is teen actress Sophie Turner, who has the challenge of playing one of the more frustrating characters on the series in Sansa Stark. For the better part of two seasons, this woman chose to submit to Joffrey and the Lannisters in order to try and protect herself and some of her family. Was there at some point an element of greed in there? Possibly, but it is surely not there now that she has seen this man execute her father, than torment her to the ends of the Seven Kingdoms.
Turner spoke recently to the Canadian Press, and she started off the chat by saying that there are going to be some major emotional ups and downs as the story pushes forward:
“I can tell you that Sansa kind of goes through this little roller coaster on season 3 emotionally, she kind of gets her hopes up a little at times and they kind of get crushed — as per (usual) pretty much, nothing much different … It’s very emotionally testing for Sansa this season.”
For those of you who have already read A Storm of Swords, you know that Sansa will be spending some time this season with Tyrion Lannister, and the actress also talked about what filming some scenes with Peter Dinklage was like:
“Peter’s such a cool guy, he’s amazing to act alongside with and I think I’ve been really lucky in terms of having worked with Sean Bean closely — him being my dad, (Ned Stark) — and now Peter, I’m very lucky getting to work in scenes with these guys because they’re big successful actors.”
Do you want to hear from another actor in Finn Jones about the future of Loras Tyrell? If so, be sure to check out the story over at the link here.
