‘Arrow’ episode 13 review: Who has failed the city now?
So did you see the twist at the end of “Arrow” this week coming? While we were largely distracted with a sideplot revolving around David Anders, Laurel being captured, and the Hood and Detective Lance actually working together, we were almost distracted by what Diggle was up to. Namely, he was very busy working to figure out just what exactly Oliver’s mom was really up to.
This was the first time, after an entire season of speculation, that Mrs. Queen was finally put in her place as the shady woman that she has been trying to hide all of this season so far. We wonder just how Thea is going to react if she ever finds out the truth, at least if Oliver as the Hood does not take her down for “failing this city.”
While this shocker was fantastic, we would be lying if we said that this was a fantastic episode for the show. It was very hard to get invested in Anders’ characters after the fantastic Vertigo, and seeing the Lauren / Hood dynamic yet again felt a little bit of more of the same. Ultimately, we are just happy that the show has figured out a way to move forward with this story by having the phone go back into the possession of the detective, which means that Laurel is going to have to operate a little bit different moving forward if she does want to communicate with Oliver’s alter ego in any shape or form.
