The great episode titles for “Supernatural” season 8 are continuing now, as we have two more two share from episodes airing pretty close to the finale. While one of them does not really work well as anything other than an homage to a classic movie, the other one works as a pretty great reference to a pretty fantastic video game from an age gone by (even if it still may not live up to “LARP and the Real Girl” or the upcoming “Man’s Best Friend with Benefits”).
Let’s start with episode 8×19, which is the duller title of the two in “Taxi Driver.” This issue with this is that it’s really pretty hard to figure out anything about the episode at all basely solely on this. Are Sam and Dean going to start up a cab service? At the moment, your guess really is as good as ours.
Meanwhile, episode 8×20 carries with it something that rings very warm in our hearts in “Pac-Man Fever.” If this hour does not somehow involve video games, it will be the biggest disappointment on the show the time that Castiel turned into a puddle. It’s certainly a smart move for the show to try and take advantage of the fact that many of their core viewers are in the 25-49 range who grew up either playing the game or having it be an integral part of their culture, and it is also something that Sam and Dean should know quite a bit about in their own right.
