‘Game of Thrones’: Compare season 2, season 3 Iceland footage with Kit Harrington

JonLast week, HBO released a brand-new production clip for “Game of Thrones” season 3 that gave us a pretty incredible look at some of the new locations that the show is using in the northern part of Iceland. Just in case you missed it, we’ve embedded it again below as Kit Harrington, Cirian Hinds, and many of the show’s writers and behind-the-scenes personalities all have something rather interesting to say when it comes to handling the cold temperatures and getting out a great product.

Now, we also have something new to share ironically from the show’s second season. As a way to help promote the season 2 DVD hitting stores on February 19, MTV News has released a two-minute clip from the collection’s “Inner Circle” bonus feature, and it highlights Harrington talking yet again about filming in Iceland, even though for season 2 they used a part of the country closer to the capital of Reykjavik.

The second video arguably has a great deal more humor for the first, though we would argue that we actually prefer some of the scenery (especially when it comes to the bodies of water) of season 3 to what the show had Beyond the Wall last year. Both, above all, are excellent representations of just what this show does right: taking the time to actually present us realistic settings for its fictional locations, and being unafraid to spend a great deal of money in order to make this happen. We’d rather have ten episodes of something shot so beautifully than 22 of something that uses this sort of footage via a green screen.

Which scenery do you prefer in Iceland, and what about when it comes to the videos overall? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can also read some more “Game of Thrones” news pertaining to Los Angeles over at the link here.
