TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 2 spoilers: Brenda Strong previews J.R. Ewing’s funeral

DallasEven though the season premiere of “Dallas” is airing on TNT Monday night, there is really just one event that most fans of the show are currently talking about: the funeral for Larry Hagman’s J.R. Ewing that will take place during the March 11 episode. The show has already come up with an interesting way in which to kill off the character (which you can read more about here), and now we are just waiting to see how the story goes from point A to point B.

So what are the funeral scenes specifically going to be like? One of the show’s cast members in Brenda Strong (Ann) spoke out on this subject in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and she describes what is ultimately a combination of

“Larry lived life are and J.R. lived life large, so there is a sense of celebration and honoring of both he and this character in episode 2.08. There is an opportunity to bring back a lot of the beloved characters of the past and I think our original fans will be happy to see some of their former stars return.

“It’s really a way of commemorating the delish, decadent and devilish character of J.R. and we have an opportunity to shed some tears and have some good laughs, and he would have wanted it that way.”

While the end to J.R. is going to be certainly tragic, one thing that the producers and writers for the show are doing their best to emphasize at the moment is that this will not signify the end of the “Dallas” drama by any means. Rather, there will be plenty of other stories to tell in the next eight episodes that really do not have much to do with Hagman at all.
