‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Expectations for Jennifer Lawrence, the Lumineers

Saturday Night Live Logo“Saturday Night Live” has to be thrilled going into their new episode this weekend. Not only do you have a host in Jennifer Lawrence who is at the height of her popularity (thanks largely to “The Hunger Games”), but you also have a musical guest in the Lumineers who as a major hit on their hands in “Ho Hey.” Believe it or not, but these two actually have a connection that extends even deeper than just this show: the band’s single has been used for months to help promote Lawrence’s Golden Globe-winning turn in “Silver Linings Playbook.”

As for what we can expect from the show this weekend, here are a couple of teases from the actress herself courtesy of a new interview with NBCUniversal Direct:

1. There will be no more bow and arrow gags after her “Hunger Games” character of Katniss was referenced in the promo.

2. There will be plenty of her (in her own words) “acting like an idiot.”

The fact that Lawrence is so game bodes very well for the show, since oftentimes we worry about Hollywood stars being so afraid to poke fun of themselves that is often makes for a weaker show. Jeremy Renner’s broadcast late last year was specifically exhausting, and we did not receive the same sort of joy from him that we had from either Louis C.K. or Martin Short, who do have an advantage in their past history of making people laugh.

If there is one worry we have about Lawrence, it’s that she has not really done much when it comes to comedy over the years; though then again, this could also motivate her to try even harder than she would otherwise.

Do you think that Lawrence’s show is going to rule? If you want to find out about who else is coming up on “SNL” this season, you can find out over at the link here.
